DMEA Seeks Members with Unclaimed Capital Credits

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) is preparing to return capital credits to its members later this year as part of its ongoing commitment to the cooperative business model. Before retirement occurs, DMEA seeks members who may have unclaimed capital credits—refunds that couldn’t be delivered due to outdated contact information or inactive accounts.
“Capital credits are one of the key benefits of being a member of a cooperative like DMEA,” said Kent Blackwell, Chief Administrative Officer. “Each year, we return margins back to our members based on how much electricity they purchased. But some of those funds can go unclaimed if we don’t have up-to-date contact information.”
Unclaimed capital credits can accumulate over time, especially for former members who may have moved out of the service area or forgotten their membership. To help reunite members with their money, DMEA has launched an online search tool for unclaimed capital credits.
To check for unclaimed capital credits:
Visit dmea.com/capital-credits and click on "Search for Unclaimed Capital Credits." Members can search by name and contact DMEA to update contact information.
More details about the capital credit retirement will be announced later in 2025. When the retirement occurs, active members will receive a check if their refund is more than $50 and a credit on their bill if it is less than $50.
