DMEA Launches 2026 Scholarship Program

January 27, 2026

Delta Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) is pleased to announce the opening of its 2026 scholarship program, continuing its longstanding commitment to supporting the educational goals of students in its service region. Each year, DMEA awards more than $100,000 in college and post-secondary scholarships to local graduating seniors, non-traditional students, continuing-education students, and future lineworkers. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2026.

“At DMEA, our commitment to community drives everything we do—especially when it comes to investing in the next generation,” said Jack Johnston, CEO of DMEA. “Supporting students isn’t just about helping them pursue their goals; it’s about empowering future leaders who will make a positive impact wherever their paths may lead.”

The scholarships, which are funded by unclaimed capital credits, are available to high school seniors, non-traditional students, and continuing-education learners within DMEA’s service territory.

Guzman Energy, DMEA’s wholesale energy supplier, reinforces its community commitment through the Guzman Character Scholarships, which recognize students who demonstrate exceptional leadership, community involvement, and resilience—regardless of academic performance. For recipients, the impact of this support goes far beyond financial assistance.

“Receiving the 2025 Character Scholarship made a meaningful difference in my college experience. It eased the financial stress of my first year and reminded me that hard work and integrity are seen and valued. I’m truly grateful for the support and encouragement it gave me moving forward,” said 2025 scholarship recipient Autiana Martinez.

Additionally, up to four Lineworker Scholarships are available to aid students pursuing careers in the utility industry, helping prepare the skilled workforce that keeps local communities powered. Funded by Guzman Energy and the Ken Atchley Scholarship, these awards highlight DMEA’s ongoing commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders.
