Public Invited to The Morning Buzz with DMEA

MONTROSE, COLO – Delta Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) is inviting members to its newest member outreach program, the Morning Buzz. In an effort to be accessible to their members and provide a convenient way for members to ask questions, the co-op will hold morning coffee meetings at local coffee shops throughout their service territory. In February, DMEA will host events in Montrose. 

DMEA Board of Directors Votes to Move Forward as Broadband Service Provider

Yesterday, the Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) Board of Directors voted unanimously to proceed with a fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) business in order to bring reliable broadband internet service to the citizens and businesses in Montrose and Delta counties. The DMEA board approved a phased deployment, which will begin with an initial pilot phase. Work on the development of the pilot phase begins immediately. This first phase is an important milestone for the cooperative, and will be used to prove the business model and test assumptions, such as take-rate.

Montrose Recreation District Using DMEA Capital Credit Return for Scholarships

In 1956, Montrose area citizens banded together for the purpose of creating a special district to build and operate a summer swimming pool. By majority vote, the Montrose Recreation District was founded. A seven-member board of directors governs the district, setting policies, reviewing financial statements, and setting the district’s strategic goals. It’s a story not unlike that of Delta-Montrose Electric Association’s (DMEA): people working together for the common good. 

Russell Stover Earns $95,000 Capital Credit Retirement

For more than 40 years Russell Stover has been satisfying the sweet tooths of the Uncompahgre Valley. Last week, the candy manufacturer received a treat of their own when Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) presented them with a $95,858.25 capital credit retirement check.

Hotchkiss Meats Experiences the Cooperative Difference, Receives Capital Credit Retirement

Although officially incorporated as a business in 1983, Hotchkiss Meats has been processing local livestock and game in the North Fork Valley for more than 50 years. The family-owned business has been passed down through the generations and is now owned and operated by Terry and Pam Neville.

Capital Credits Retirement Checks Coming This Month

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) members will receive approximately $2,000,000 in capital credit retirement checks this month. The DMEA board approved a $2.6 million capital credit retirement during their October meeting.

DMEA Supports Efficiency, Festivities at 2015 Garden of Lights

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) is proud to support the Montrose Botanical Society’s 2015 Garden of Lights. The local cooperative is supporting the annual holiday festivity for the second year in a row. This year’s event will once again feature only LED holiday lights, plus elaborate light displays, hot chocolate, horse-drawn wagon rides, live caroling, and Mr. and Mrs. Clause.

Application Period Open for DMEA Scholarship Program

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) is now accepting applications for their 2016 academic scholarship program. Applicants must be dependents of a DMEA member and planning to enroll in or be enrolled full-time in an accredited college, university, or vocational school. Applications are available online here. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 29, 2016.

DMEA Issues First Variable Speed Drive Rebate

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) recently issued the first variable speed drive rebate in the cooperative’s history. Randy Meaker of Montrose installed a 50-horsepower variable speed drive pump on his irrigation system, which resulted in a $2,350 rebate from DMEA. For Meaker, the rebate was just icing on the cake when compared to the environmental benefits he hopes to achieve.

DMEA November Member Forums Focus on Efficiency

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) will host two member forums next month that will highlight the co-op’s programs and services designed to help members reduce their energy use. The forums are scheduled for Monday, November 16, 7:00 p.m. at Orchard City Town Hall, 9661 2100 Road, Austin, CO, and Tuesday, November 17, 7:00 p.m. at Hotchkiss Memorial Hall, 175 N. 1stStreet, Hotchkiss, CO. Free dessert and refreshments will be served. All members who attend will receive a $10 bill credit.
