Vehicle Collision with Power Pole Causes Outage

As of 3:56 pm power has been restored to the approximately 1,151 Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) members in the Delta area who experienced an outage beginning at approximately 2:16 pm. The outage was due to a vehicle collision with a DMEA power pole. 

DMEA Announces Phase I of Fiber-to-the-Premises

South Montrose, Paonia, Orchard City Slated First

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) will kick off its much anticipated fiber-to-the-premise business this month. The first three areas set to receive quality high-speed internet services through DMEA are south Montrose, Paonia, and Orchard City. By mid May, DMEA plans to offer members in these areas an opportunity to start signing up for service. 

Notice of Proposed Change in Tariffs

You are hereby notified that Delta-Montrose Electric Association proposes to make the following changes in its tariffs/fees, to become effective April 1, 2016. Delta-Montrose Electric Association proposes changes to Tariff #4 Industrial-Distribution Voltage – 12KV and Tariff #5A Industrial-Transmission Voltage 46KV and 115KV, the elimination of Tariff #5B Optional Industrial Time-of-Use, and the addition of Tariff #18B Agriculture Irrigation Time-of-Use and Tariff #21 Generating Facilities to the Association’s rates.

DMEA Seeks Nominees to Fill Charitable Trust Vacancies

Delta-Montrose Electric Association’s Operation Round Up Charitable Trust is seeking to fill two upcoming vacancies for their District #3 and North Region trustee positions. Trustees serve three-year terms and are limited to a total of four terms. They are responsible for distributing donations from the funds collected through DMEA’s Operation Round Up program.

DMEA Opposes Effort to Limit Local Renewables

Yesterday DMEA learned that its wholesale power supplier, Tri-State Generation & Transmission Association, filed a legal action that threatens DMEA's efforts to bring renewable generation -- and the possibility of tremendous economic development -- to DMEA's service territory. Tri-State's February 17 filing before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in Washington, D.C., asks FERC to approve a rate penalty on utilities like DMEA when they purchase electricity from local renewable generation projects. 

DMEA Energy Efficiency Programs Help you Save

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) has launched its 2016 energy efficiency and conservation programs, all designed to help members reduce their energy consumption and lower their bills. This year’s offerings include the popular ENERGY STAR appliance rebates, plus incentives for the rapidly expanding technology of LED lighting.

Co-op hosts coffee meetings in North Fork area before work for busy members.

Delta County, COLO – Delta Montrose Electric Association is inviting members to its newest member outreach program, the Morning Buzz. In an effort to be accessible to their members and provide a convenient way for members to ask questions, the co-op will hold morning coffee meetings at local coffee shops throughout their service territory. In March, DMEA will host events in Crawford and Paonia

Deadline Approaching for DMEA Scholarships

$22,000 Available for Local Students
The deadline to apply for a Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) scholarship is quickly approaching. High school students and continuing education students whose parents or guardians are members of DMEA are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be dependents of a DMEA member and planning to enroll, or be enrolled, full-time in an accredited college, university, or vocational school. Applications are available online at www.dmea.com. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 29, 2016.

DMEA Board of Directors Votes to Move Forward as Broadband Service Provider

Yesterday, the Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) Board of Directors voted unanimously to proceed with a fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) business in order to bring reliable broadband internet service to the citizens and businesses in Montrose and Delta counties. The DMEA board approved a phased deployment, which will begin with an initial pilot phase. Work on the development of the pilot phase begins immediately. This first phase is an important milestone for the cooperative, and will be used to prove the business model and test assumptions, such as take-rate.
