The deadline to apply for a Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) scholarship is quickly approaching. High school students and continuing education students whose parents or guardians are members of DMEA are encouraged to apply.

Public Service Announcement: Update on Power Outage Affecting Montrose – Power Restored to Many

More than 6,100 Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) members in Montrose experienced a power outage beginning at 10:19 am. The outage was due to damaged equipment in a substation serving the area. This triggered safety mechanisms on DMEA’s electric system, interrupting power in order to protect the power system. After the cause was determined and adequate testing completed, DMEA was able to reroute power to the majority of affected members as of 12:00 pm.

More than 6,100 Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) members in Montrose are currently experiencing a power outage. The exact cause of the outage is not yet known. DMEA crewmembers are currently working to establish alternate electric feeds in order to minimize the outage and safely restore power.  

DMEA Reminds Members Co-op is Not Part of Black Hills Energy

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) reminds members that the electric cooperative is not part of Black Hills Energy. DMEA remains a member-owned, locally controlled electric cooperative and has no affiliation with Black Hills Energy.

$40,000 Up for Grabs to Local Students

Apply Now for DMEA academic scholarships

More than $40,000 is now available to local graduating high school seniors and continuing education students thanks to Delta-Montrose Electric Association’s (DMEA) 2017 academic scholarship program. Recently, DMEA’s Board of Directors voted to increase the impact of the co-op’s scholarship program increasing both the amount of the scholarships and number of awards given.

Orchard City Second Community to Bring Elevate Fiber to Residents

On Tuesday, December 2, Orchard City became the second community to meet its goal and bring ultra-fast internet from Elevate Fiber to residents. Since the launch of Elevate just six months ago, more than 4,500 Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) members have preregistered for service. Although DMEA anticipated high interest in the project, the speed at which people are signing up is exceeding expectations.

DMEA Offices Closing at 3:30pm Friday

DMEA Board of Directors Approves Rate Increase for January 2017

NOVEMBER 28, 2016 – On Tuesday, November 15, the DMEA Board of Directors approved a rate increase to take effect January 1, 2017. No changes were made from the original proposal. Two members were in attendance at the rate hearing and six members filed comment prior to the meeting. The board reviewed all comments.

DMEA Considers Feasibility of Tri-State Exit

NOVEMBER 17, 2016 – On November 2, Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) and Tri-State Generation and Transmission (Tri-State) agreed to collaborate on an analysis that will determine the feasibility of DMEA withdrawing from Tri State’s membership. 

DMEA to Experience Wholesale Power Cost Increase, Proposes 2017 Rate Increase

OCTOBER 10, 2016 – In January 2017, Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) is set to receive a 4.3% increase in wholesale power costs from Tri-State Generation and Transmission. This increase, coupled with the need to accurately recover the cooperative’s fixed costs, has resulted in the need to increase electric rates in the New Year.
