JULY 29, 2016 – In the summer, on average, Americans dedicate 9% of their home energy costs to air conditioning. With summer temperatures reaching their peak, Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) reminds members to follow these simple low and no-cost tips to keep electric bills in check.

DMEA Sponsors Community Day at Montrose County Fair

MONTROSE, CO - Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) is proud to support the 2016 Montrose County Fair and Rodeo. The local cooperative is the Major Day Sponsor for Community Day on Wednesday, July 27. Community Day includes an old fashioned carnival for the whole family and a free community dinner.

North Montrose Power Outage Debrief

Approximately 1,020 Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) members in the north Montrose area experienced a power outage beginning at 11:46 am. The outage was due to a pair of birds contacting a protective switch in the substation serving the area, resulting in damaged equipment. Crew members restored power at 1:06 pm to all affected members after rerouting power from alternate delivery points.

You are hereby notified that Delta-Montrose Electric Association proposes to make the following changes in its tariffs/fees, to become effective September 1, 2016.

Victory for Local Renewable Energy

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rules Tri-State fee on local Renewable power violates federal law. DMEA may buy from local renewable generators at negotiated rates. In a unanimous decision issued yesterday, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in Washington D.C. struck down a fee imposed by Tri-State Generation & Transmission Association (Tri-State) on wholesale electric customers—such as DMEA—who purchase energy from renewable resources like wind, solar, hydro, or geothermal power.

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) announced the results of the 2016 Board of Directors Election last night at their Annual Meeting of Members. The results are as follows:

District 3:
Olen Lund – 2,380
Brad Harding – 2,792 - winner

District 4:
Jim Elder – 3,929 - winner
Walter von Helms – 1,148

South Region:
Tony Prendergast – 3,586 - winner
John Fleming – 1,540

DMEA to Introduce Elevate Fiber at Annual Meeting of Members

At their Annual Meeting of Members on June 16, 2016, Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) will introduce Elevate Fiber and demonstrate the fastest internet service on the market. Elevate Fiber, powered by DMEA, is the co-op’s new fiber broadband company that was recently established to bring fast, reliable, and quality internet service to members in Montrose and Delta counties.

DMEA to Host Candidate Forums to Help Members Make Informed Votes

Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA), in cooperation with the League of Women Voters of Montrose and Delta Counties, will host two candidate forums this week in order to help members meet the 2016 board candidates and make informed votes. Light refreshments will be served.

Six Candidates Vie for DMEA Board Seat

Six candidates will compete for a seat on Delta-Montrose Electric Association’s (DMEA) nine-member board this spring. The District 3, District 4, and the South Region positions are up for election.

Montrose Middle School Teachers Headed for 3D Experience

Centennial Middle School Receives DMEA Educational Grant
Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) presented Centennial Middle School Science teachers, Meghan Waschbusch and Chris Thompson, with a $1,250 educational grant for the purchase of a 3D printer. After recently being designated a school of innovation, Centennial Middle School has embarked on an effort to provide comprehensive STEM curriculum to their students.
