At the annual meeting on June 14, DMEA handed out ENERGY STAR® rated, high-efficiency LED light bulbs to participating members.  An LED bulb, which reduces energy consumption beyond the performance of its predecessor,  the Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) provides a whiter, brighter light for many applications. It can also save up to $100 over its lifetime (in many cases as long as 20 years per bulb!).
If that wasn’t enough to brighten annual meeting attendees’ spirits,  DMEA revealed that the givaway represented just the beginning of the savings for families interested in utilizing this new technology.   DMEA also announced the launch of a new LED light bulb rebate program, so that members who like their free bulb can  receive $10 back from each additional  qualifying bulb they decide to purchase.
Local retailers carry a variety of bulbs, but not all LED lights qualify for  rebates.  Members seeking the rebates should ensure their puchases meet these requirements:

• • The bulb is labeled as an “LED” bulb on the packaging.
• • The ENERGY STAR® rating and logo are displayed on the packaging.
• • The Lumen output is 300 or greater.
