KEN WATSON APPOINTED TO DMEA'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

APRIL 25, 2018 – Last night, at their regular meeting, DMEA’s Board of Directors appointed Ken Watson to fill the vacant District 4 board seat. Watson was one of five candidates who submitted interest in the open position.
 
“I’d like to thank all of our candidates. We had a talented pool and it was a tough decision for the board,” said DMEA CEO, Jasen Bronec.
 
Watson is a 1993 graduate of Western State Colorado University with a bachelor’s degree in business. Since 1999, he has worked in the Montrose area for companies including Scott Fly Rod Company, Gordon Composites, and most recently, as the General Manager and equity partner of Black Canyon Jet Center until its sale in 2016.
 
“We are looking forward to bringing Ken on board. He will be a great addition and we know he will help us continue to do great things for our members,” said Bronec.
 
Watson will join DMEA’s nine-member board to help govern the cooperative on the members’ behalf.  As a board member, he will be responsible for representing the needs and interests of DMEA’s 30,000+ membership. DMEA’s Board of Directors meets monthly to review the financial state of cooperative, discuss policies, evaluate new opportunities, and address issues the co-op may be facing.
 
In addition to Watson’s recent appointment, DMEA has three additional board seats up for election: District 1, District 2, and District 5. Individuals interested in running for an open seat must be a DMEA member, reside within the district for which they are running, and complete a nomination petition packet. Nomination petition packets can be picked up at either DMEA office (11925 6300 Rd., Montrose or 21191 H 75 Rd., Delta). The deadline to complete and return the petition packets and all associated materials is Monday, April 30, 2018 at 4:00 PM.
 
Ballots for the 2018 DMEA Board of Director elections will be sent in mid-May to all eligible DMEA members. Members can vote for their director representatives by completing and returning the mail-in ballot to arrive no later than June 12, 2018 or by voting in person at the DMEA Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 14, 4:30 – 8:00 PM at the Montrose Pavilion.
 
Member registration and voting will open at 4:30 PM. Family fun, educational booths, bucket rides, and local musician, David Starr, are just a sampling of the activities members can enjoy. A free BBQ dinner from Jimmer’s Back County BBQ will also be served from 4:30 – 6:00 PM. The election will conclude at the start of the business meeting at 6:00 PM and results will be announced during the meeting.
